Insurance to Cover Storm Damage

February 09, 2020 at 3:08 AM

Good news arrived early in the year for the DuBois Area Historical Society. Insurance will cover all of the wind damage to the Society’s E. D. Reitz Museum.

A check for $19,725.08 is expected to cover the expenses of all the damage including replacing the awning.

On Halloween night very high winds tore the awning from the museum. It was blown onto the roof where it caught on the building’s furnace, pulling the furnace from its position and damaging the roof.

Heat was restored to the building within a few hours and the roof was repaired before any further weather damage occurred. For the moment the museum remains without its awning, but one of a similar type will be installed at a later date.
