Local History Projects To Be Featured

       Local high school history projects will be featured at the Thursday, May 24 meeting of the DuBois Area Historical Society. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the E.D. Reitz Museum, 30 W. Long Ave., DuBois. The program is free and open to the public.

       Galen Kilmer, DuBois Area High School’s local history teacher, will continue a Historical Society May tradition by bringing in projects completed by his students. Retired DuBois High School teacher Todd Thompson first brought the projects to the Society several years ago.

       Kilmer will explain the course requirements for the local history class, and discuss how the students conduct their research.

       Twelve members and guests attended the April meeting of the DuBois Area Historical Society. Laura Lynn Yohe presented the history of the Big Run Militia.

       This will be the last DuBois Area Historical Society meeting until September. The schedule for 2002-03 will be announced during the summer.

       DuBois Area Historical Society membership dues for 2002 are currently being accepted.  Dues are single adult, $10; family $15; student up to 18, $2; student 18 and over, $5; and senior  $5. Make checks payable to the DuBois Area Historical Society and mailed to DuBois Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 401, DuBois, PA 15801.
