Facchine Reelected President

       Current DuBois Area Historical Society President Evo Facchine was reelected to a second two-year term at the DuBois Area Historical Society Luncheon. The luncheon, a first in Society history, was held at Church of Our Savior in DuBois.

       Facchine has completed three years as president. He also served an additional year to fill an unexpired term.

       Also elected for two year terms were the following: First Vice President – Judy Leech, Director of Building and Grounds – Dave Beer, Director of Youth – Tammy Nelson, Director of History – Todd Thompson., Area Representative City of DuBois – Mike Micknis, Area Representative Sandy Township – Galen Kilmer, and Area Representative Huston Township – Linda Riccadonna

       Openings remain for Area Representative for Winslow Township and Area Representative for Union Township. Anyone interested should contact the DuBois Area Historical Society at 371-9006.

       The guest speaker for the luncheon was Joan Hockman of Hockman Candy. She spoke about the making of chocolate candy, the history of her business, and the history of the building where the business is located.

       Upcoming programs are: March 14 – Dennis Bussell of DuBois, co-steward of Integrated World Arts Inc., Dispelling Myths About Native Americans”; April 20 – Rev. Robert Henry, “Early American Pattern Glass,” to be held at the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church; and May 24 – Galen Kilmer, “ DuBois Area High School Local History Projects.” All programs are free, at 7:30 p.m. in the E.D. Reitz Museum, 30 W. Long Ave., DuBois, unless otherwise indicated.
