“Reflections” column, authored by Jason S. Gray, Sr., appeared regularly in The Courier-Express from March 28, 1983 to March 12, 1986.  It was a composite of personal observations and recollections from his lifetime of involvement in the DuBois community, and from his perspective in the communications business.

Mr. Gray was born in DuBois in 1900.  His business career with The Courier-Express and Tri County Broadcasting Company spanned seven decades until his death in 1985.  He served as Editor, President, and Chairman of the Board of the Courier-Express and in executive capacities with its affiliated companies.

His “Reflections” column provided readers with history and insight into community life.  It reflected a keen mind, a talent for astute observation, a wonderful sense of humor, and an engaging style of writing.

“Best of Reflections” is a compilation of 303 of the more than 600 separate articles that appeared in the series.  The selections are organized chronologically by topic areas for the convenience of the reader.

We dedicate this book in loving memory of its author.  The example of his courage as he battled failing health, his talents, his wisdom, his counsel, his kindness, his caring his generosity are remembered by the many whose lives he touched.

He not only recorded history of the DuBois area, he also shaped it with his extensive professional and civic involvement in community life.  We are forever indebted to him for these contributions.

All proceeds from the sale of this book benefit the DuBois Area YMCA, according to his wishes.

Jason S. Gray, Jr. Editor
