Joe Skubisz (green sweater) leads a tour about railroads in DuBois

Joe Skubisz of DuBois was the guest speaker for an outdoor program of the DuBois Area Historical Society on Saturday, April 24. Skubisz talked about rail travel in the DuBois area.

Skubisz talked about the three major railroad lines of DuBois, the Allegheny Valley, Buffalo, Rochester, and Pittsburgh, and the Buffalo and Susquehanna. Starting from the Cherry Law Office, a former railroad station he led the walk past several significant buildings related to the DuBois railroad era.

He also provided some information about DuBois’ other rail transportation, the trolley, also known as the DuBois Traction Passenger Railway, which operated in DuBois and the surrounding areas from 1891-1926.
