          “Sabula Lake Timeless . . .” by Dr. Anju Jolly is now available for purchases at the DuBois Area Historical Society. The book sells for $20 plus $1.20 tax. Those wishing the book mailed should include $5 for postage.

            The book is a history of the Sabula Lake area and is packed with pictures from Sabula’s early days into the 21st Century. Information is provided about the origins of the village of Sabula and its lake, the railroad, and the Sabula railroad tunnel.

            A long-time Sabula resident, Jolly is an assistant professor of education; behavioral sciences and education for Penn State University. Her areas of interest are curriculum development, learning theories, educational assessment and teacher research.

            She is also a self taught mosaic artist and has been creating mosaics for over nine years. She uses glass, found objects smalti, beads and more to make her mosaics.

            “I have an immense desire to connect with people and timeless themes help me do that,” she said. “I want my mosaics to tell a story, or capture a relationship, or just simply seize a beautiful moment. I have done some commissions, some nonprofit projects, and have shown in many art shows around Pennsylvania.”
