Galen Kilmer presented the history of  “Camp Mountain Run’s Cooperative Trout Nursery,” as the guest speaker for the DuBois Area Historical Society’s February meeting. Kilmer, a long-time historical society board member, has been active with the cooperative trout nursery at Camp Mountain Run since it was started in 2004. The construction of the nursery was the Eagle Scout project for Kilmer’s son, Andy.

Camp Mountain Run, operated by Bucktail Council Boy Scouts of America, partners with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and Pennsylvania Wildlife Habitat Unlimited to raise 5,000 trout per year and provide public fishing. The Fish and Boat Commission provides the fingerlings and they are grown to approximately one foot at the nursery before being stocked. Mountain Run stream and the camp's lake and warming pond are stocked as part of the nursery program.
