Almost as popular as the DuBois Area Historical Society’s Spirit of DuBois Lantern Walk is the spread of homemade cookies along with beverages and other treats that are waiting for those who return from the walk.

Jean Hayes, area representative from Luthersburg on the Society’s board, has coordinated the refreshments during all six years of the walk. At the 6th annual walk, she was helped by Jeanne Hayes, Ruth Gregori, George and Mary Reilly, Linda Riccadonna, and Susan Thompson.

Providing cookies were:  Jean Hayes, Carol Laughlin, Jerry Watson, Mary Reilly, Linda Riccadonna, Todd Shindledecker, Beecher Klingensmith, Carolyn Rhoades, Gene Aravich, Ruth Gregori, and Ginny Schott. Scotty’s Donuts also donated some of its products for the event.

The result is a social gathering for everyone involved. Because of the excellent weather during the 2013 walk, the doors of theSociety’s museum were opened and the socialization spilled onto the streets.

One walk participant, observing this from across the street, commented, “With the light from the building behind them, it was like looking at a Norman Rockwell painting. It was wonderful to see people enjoying their town.”

Hopefully, they also enjoyed the walk through history that preceded the refreshments.
